This scheme came into force with effect from 19th December, 2010 and revised in 2015 as per official Gazette number 13 series
I dated 25.06.2015. The scheme provides for financial assistance to the victims/families of victims who are not insured against
accidental death or bodily injury caused by external, violent visible means in road accidents. The scheme covers the family of road
accident victims which will be paid financial assistance of ₹2.00 Lakhs in case of death, ₹1.50 Lakhs in permanent disability, ₹1.00 lakh
in case of partial disability and ₹15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen thousand only) per accident victim who sustain minor injuries when there is no disability.
Beneficiary: In case of death of the person/victim of road accident (1) his/her (i) spouse (ii) unmarried daughter(s) and son(s) (divided equally) (iii) parents of the victim (iv) married daughter.
In case of permanent injury (1) victim or in case he is unable to avail the benefit himself (2) his/her spouse (3) daughter(s)/son(s)/mother/father.
Short Term Reliefs: The Scheme shall provide for financial assistance of ₹50,000/- (in case of death) and payment of
compensation of ₹25,000/- (in case of serious injury) as Short term reliefs.
Long Term Reliefs: This shall be applicable to those, whose family income i. e. cumulative income of spouse/ /daughter(s)/son(s) after the accident is less than 3.00 lakhs. Long term relief provides financial assistance of
₹2.00 Lakhs in case of death
₹1.50 Lakhs in case of permanent injury;
₹1.00 Lakh in case of serious/ permanent injury not leading to loss of job/ occupation but where hospitalization exceeds 60 days immediately after accident
₹50,000/- in case of injuries other than specified above but requires hospitalization up to 60 days after but exceeding 7 days;
₹10,000/- in case of injuries requiring 3 to 7 days of hospitalization.
Long term relief shall be paid after deducting any compensation already paid under Short term relief.
